Second-inning rally sparks win for St. Vincent, 9-1 

A five-run explosion in the second inning carried St. Vincent to a 9-1 win in seven innings over St. John Paul II at Esposito on Tuesday. 

St. Vincent scored in the second on an RBI single by Steven Pirella, a three-run triple by Brian Pyluck, and an RBI single by Tom Litterio

Pyluck racked up three RBIs on two hits for St. Vincent. 

Louis Balestriere got a hit in each of his four at bats. He singled in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings. 

Harold Hopler got the win for St. Vincent. He allowed one run over six innings. Hopler struck out one, walked one and gave up 13 hits. 

Steve Spoljaric took the loss for St. John Paul II. He allowed nine runs in six innings, walked one and struck out none.

 

St. Wolfgang come from behind to beat St. Matthew, 7-6 

With the score tied at six, Erik Hastrup came to the plate and singled, scoring Mike Markowycz

Hastrup racked up two RBIs on two hits for St. Wolfgang. 

Paul Newton was solid at the plate for St. Matthew. Newton went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the third, fifth, and eighth innings. 

The bottom of the first saw St. Matthew take an early lead, 2-0. St. Matthew's offense woke up as Joe LoBrace singled before Pat Nigrodoubled, scoring LoBrace and Wells Pikaart

St. Wolfgang got one-run boosts in each of the second, sixth and eighth. In the second, St. Wolfgang scored on an RBI single by Brian Weber, plating Bobby Camisa

After a quick strike from St. Wolfgang, St. Matthew responded with one run in the second. St. Matthew scored on a walk by Pikaart.

 

Early boost from Robert Stratton helps St. John Paul II get past St. Francis, 7-4 

Three first-inning runs helped St. John Paul II to a 7-4 win over St. Francis at Farley on Friday. 

St. John Paul II scored in the first on an RBI single by Robert Stratton, an RBI single by Bryan Healey, and a sacrifice fly by Jim Killeen

Healey racked up two RBIs on three hits for St. John Paul II. 

Chris Nardi was solid at the plate for St. Francis. Chris Nardi went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth inning. 

John Veglia got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over seven innings. Veglia struck out none, walked none and gave up 14 hits. 

Howard Bialos was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked none and struck out none. 

Two runs in the top of the second helped St. Francis close its deficit to 3-2. A two-run double by Bill Scheiner fueled St. Francis' comeback. Raymond Lo to end the St. Francis threat. 

St. John Paul II pushed across one run in both the third inning and the sixth. In the third, St. John Paul II scored on an RBI single by Healey, plating Thomas Ulichny

One run in the top of the fifth helped St. Francis close its deficit to 4-3. An RBI single by Chris Nardi gave St. Francis life. The St. Francis threat came to an end when Veglia finally got Lo to ground out. 

It didn't take long for St. John Paul II to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the fifth. St. John Paul II scored on a two-run single by Stratton.

 

Fourth-inning rally sparks win for St. George, 12-2 

St. George beat St. Joseph 12-2 in seven innings on Friday at Brookside after a seven-run explosion in the fourth inning. 

St. George scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Bob Cihanowyz, a three-run double by Jeff Friedlander, an RBI single by Walt Patrylo, and a two-run triple by Ryan Peters

Tony Perconte racked up three RBIs on two hits for St. George. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning. 

Glenn Gang had two extra-base hits for St. Joseph. He doubled in the fourth and seventh innings. 

St. George easily handled St. Joseph pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, 10 RBIs and nine runs scored. 

St. George didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on two hit into a fielder's choices.
